I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

I Have A Dream

What I am Thinking ... Linda's Blog

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I got the coolest birthday wish today. I'm going to copy it over in it's entirety.

"Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu,
Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu,
Happy Birrrrthday Dear Linda,
Happy Birrrrthday to Youuuu!

A few years back.... not so long ago, heaven and earth erupted into a major celebration with the news of your impending adventure into this very time and space. You see, someone like Linda Kaban doesn't come along all that often.... in fact, there's never been a single one like you, nor is there ever ANY possibility that another will come again. You're an Angel among us. Someone, whose eyes see what no others will EVER see, whose ears hear what no others will EVER hear, and whose perspective and feelings will NEVER, ever be duplicated. Without YOU, the Universe, and ALL THAT IS, would be sadly less than it is.

Quite simply:

You're the kind of person
Who's hard to forget,
A one-in-a-million
To the people you've met.
Your friends are as varied
As the places you go,
And they all want to tell you
In case you don't know:
That you make a big difference
In the lives that you touch,
By taking so little
And giving so much!

Linda, you are so AWESOME! For your birthday, friends and angels from every corner of the Universe, including buddies you didn't know you had, will be with you to wish you the HAPPIEST of Birthdays and an exciting new year in time and space. You won't be alone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Linda!

Mike
Orlando, Florida, USA

You know who Mike is? Me either.
Or more correctly I know what Mike does. He's an inspirational speaker, who runs online "A philosophical club of like-minded thinkers who believe that life is the ultimate adventure....because thoughts become things, dreams come true, and all things remain forever possible!"

I signed up a couple of weeks ago and am happy to receive a daily "thought from the universe" in my email. Very cute. Very uplifting. Just for fun, check it out at www.tut.com
So here's Mike, never met him. Obviously when I signed up I must have given a birth date. Very nice "extra" from an anonymous entrepreneur/philosopher.

I read this morning that Canada has now entered the "supercomputer elite". This computer, which is still under construction, will upon it's completion be able to perform 360 trillion calculations per second. PER SECOND.

All this is leading to a thought.

By 10:24 this morning, I had received 5 email birthday wishes.
The first was from a naughty magazine I used to subscribe to.
The second was my bank reminding me that I'm getting older and it's not too late to invest.
The third was from a store advising me to spend my birthday cash there.
The fourth was from the astrological site where I pick up my daily horoscope.
And the fifth from Mike the Philosopher.

Here's my thought. According to the pundits, no computer will ever take the place of a human being.

We as humans are capable of processes supercomputers will never get the chance to perform. They cannot lay their hands on the sick and cause spontaneous healing. They cannot walk into a store with sweaty palms and hope in their heart and pick out a ring for their sweetheart. They can't mirror love and desire from their eyes back to yours. They can't call you up and sing Happy Birthday off key; or delight you with unexpected visits; or a kiss.

Use your own "supercomputer", that miraculous combination of head and heart to calculate how you can add quality to a loved one's day. And before you say it, "I'm too"....you know what you were going to say. "Busy", to me the ugliest of the four letter words, is not an option. None of it should ever be a burden or a "to-do". Extending the arms of your life force around the circle of those you cherish should be a joy. Change your "Oh I have to...." to "How can I...."

make them happy
make them smile
ease their fears
make it all better.......
